Procrastination

Procrastination

“I’m not in the mood”, “I’ll do it when I feel inspired, when I have the energy”, “What’s the point in forcing myself, right?” Well actually, wrong.

A lot has been written about motivation and how to get yourself motivated. Watching motivational speakers, creating boards visualising your perfect life, surrounding yourself with motivational quotes and chanting affirmations. Yet, the best advice I have ever come across said: “Just get on with it, motivation will follow”. And as if by magic, it did! Think of the last time you were procrastinating endlessly and then once you started working on that thing it actually wasn’t so bad.

It is a common misconception that people who achieve a lot don’t ever battle with lack of motivation. They do, but they get up and start doing things despite not feeling like it. And you do it every day too! Think of all the times you don’t feel like doing something but you do it anyway – getting out of bed is a great example. You might not always feel like getting up on time but if you have to – you do it! And once you’re up and going – it’s never even close to being as bad as you thought it would be. And this logic applies to everything else. So stop reading some random blog posts and just get on with it!
